Hi There!
I am a ceramicist in the Baltimore, MD area who enjoys learning, exploring, and creating with clay, but most especially discovering the limits of working with this medium. As a ceramic artist, I like to gravitate towards themes of curving or interweaving organic shapes and finding an irony of utilitarian forms that have become nonfunctional or go beyond their intention.
I primarily use wheel throwing, coil building, or a combination of the two techniques in order to complete my works. My fascination with clay is due to the process of the work. Trying to understand: Why does this do that? What happens when I apply this? How does this work?
In my search for these answers, I find myself creating many different types of works, from figural sculpture to utilitarian objects to more abstract pieces.
